Agibot’s New Humanoid Robot Challenges Tesla’s Optimus 🦾
Robotics start-up Agibot, founded by Peng Zhihui, a former "Genius Youth" recruit from Huawei Technologies, has launched a new line of humanoid robots. The announcement positions the Shanghai-based company as a direct competitor to Tesla's Optimus robots.
At an online launch event, Peng declared that Agibot is now at the forefront of the industry following significant breakthroughs in research and development over the past year.
Backed by venture capital firm HongShan, Agibot introduced five models of humanoid robots, both wheeled and bipedal, designed for various applications ranging from household tasks to industrial operations. The flagship model, Yuanzheng A2, is a biped humanoid robot standing 175 centimeters tall and weighing 55 kilograms. Equipped with advanced sensors and artificial intelligence, it can perform intricate tasks such as threading a needle.
Agibot plans to begin shipping the robots in October, with a goal of delivering 300 units by the end of the year. The company's executive, Jiang Qingsong, expressed confidence in competing directly with Tesla's Optimus, citing superior commercialization and cost-control capabilities.
Trump’s False Taylor Swift Endorsement Claims 🤥
Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, has stirred controversy by posting manipulated images on social media that misleadingly imply pop star Taylor Swift endorses him.
The images, created using AI, show Swift and her fans allegedly supporting Trump. One image depicts fans wearing "Swifties for Trump" t-shirts, while another mimics a World War I recruiting poster with Swift's face, urging people to vote for Trump.
The post quickly drew criticism from Swift's fanbase, accusing Trump of spreading misinformation. Taylor Swift, who has not endorsed any candidate for the 2024 election, previously supported the Democratic Party in 2020 and has been vocal in her criticism of Trump during his presidency.
The controversy comes amid heightened scrutiny of deepfake technology and misinformation in political campaigns. While two of the images shared by Trump feature real Trump supporters, there is no evidence linking these AI-generated images directly to his campaign. Swift's recent cancellation of concerts in Vienna due to a security threat adds another layer of complexity to the situation, as misinformation continues to spread online.
