Amazon’s Nova ACT Makes AI Agents Smarter and More Independent
Welcome to this week’s edition of Jumble, your go-to source for the latest in AI. Today, Amazon is flexing its AI muscles with Nova ACT—a new web-browsing AI agent that may be the most capable one yet. We also explore a breakthrough thought-to-speech brain implant, and so much more. Let’s dive in ⬇️

🫳 What is Nova ACT & What Can It Do?
Amazon just introduced Nova ACT (Action-Centric Tool), a new type of AI agent designed to take real actions across the web. Unlike traditional LLMs that rely on pre-trained data and structured APIs, Nova ACT uses a real browser to interact with the internet like a human does: scrolling, clicking, filling out forms, and navigating complex web flows.
It’s not just retrieving results—it’s completing tasks.
🎲 Why it’s a game changer
Nova ACT’s agent can book travel, manage schedules, extract info from PDFs, compare prices, sign into portals, and more—all within a secure and audited browser session. It’s like giving an LLM its own hands, eyes, and common sense. Developers can integrate Nova ACT through Amazon’s open-source SDK, making it accessible to enterprise apps, productivity tools, and e-commerce services.

This could be Amazon’s boldest move yet to compete with OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. It puts agent autonomy front and center—and shows that AI can now be both smart and useful.
🧪 Where this could lead
The implications for Nova ACT go beyond basic productivity. Imagine AI agents that can conduct market research, generate reports, or even build and test e-commerce stores on the fly. If combined with voice interfaces or embedded in smart devices, Nova ACT could shift how we interact with software altogether—less clicking, more telling.
It hints at a future where agents can perform as mini digital employees that work alongside us, not just for us.
🗣️ Thought-Powered Speech is Now Real
Scientists have successfully helped stroke survivors speak again—using a brain implant that turns thoughts into actual speech. In a stunning proof-of-concept, researchers at UC Davis and UCSF translated neural activity into audio using AI-driven decoding systems.
The technology works through a high-resolution brain-computer interface (BCI), trained to understand how the brain forms words before they're spoken. Patients imagine saying a word—and the system speaks it aloud. Early tests have already shown significant communication improvements in participants who had previously been unable to speak for years.
🧠 How it works—and why it matters
The implant detects brain signals from speech-forming regions and uses machine learning to translate those into words or sentences in real time. This isn't text-to-speech—it's thought-to-speech. That’s a major step beyond traditional BCIs, which are often limited to cursor movements or letter selection.

This breakthrough opens new possibilities for people with neurological conditions, paralysis, or severe speech impairments. While the tech is still in early trials, it shows how AI + BCI may soon give voice to those who’ve lost theirs—and potentially enable new forms of non-verbal communication in the future.
💡 What do you think, is this the first step to telepathic communication?
