⌚ Amazon’s Bee Remembers Every Plan You Make
Amazon just launched Bee Frontier, a $75 bracelet that listens to your conversations and turns them into summaries, reminders and to-dos. A $100 version that snaps onto the back of your phone is coming soon.
Would you wear an AI that listens to your whole day?
🛒 It Remembers What You Said You’d Buy
Link Bee to Amazon.com and things you mention can pop up as product picks on your Amazon homepage. Gmail, Calendar and Alexa+ hookups come with Bee Pro, which costs $11.99 a month.
🤨 Private, but Who Really Benefits?
Amazon says audio is deleted right after processing and a light shows when it’s recording. Skeptics still wonder who benefits more from a gadget that hears everyone around you: you or Amazon.
🪱 Your Smart TV Could Soon Host an AI Worm
Anthropic’s red team says small AI models may be months away from copying themselves across cheap gadgets like smart ovens and off-brand Android TV boxes. Researchers already ran a 26B model across 15 TV boxes that cost about $55 each.
🐌 Slow, Sneaky and Hard to Kill
With no central server to switch off, a worm like this would be tough to shut down, though it might take days to double. Only GLM-5.2 spread end to end in testing, and small models could catch up by year’s end.
🚧 Not a Real Threat, Yet
The tests used wide open, password-free connections, so experts call them a best case for attackers rather than a working attack. Squeezing gigabytes of AI files through weak home connections is still a big hurdle.
Weekly Scoop 🍦
🐝 Weekly Challenge: Build Your Own Bee for Free
Challenge: Amazon’s Bee turns your chats into to-dos. This week, build the same thing for free with your phone and ChatGPT, Muse, Gemini, or Claude.
Here's what to do:
📱 Step 1: Record one real conversation. Use your phone’s built-in recorder on a work call or a family planning chat. Ask everyone first; in some places, it’s the law.
📝 Step 2: Grab the transcript. Voice Memos on iPhone and Recorder on Pixel can transcribe for you. Copy the text and cut anything private.
🎯 Step 3: Ask for the Bee treatment. Paste it in and ask: “Summarize this in five bullets, list every to-do and who owns it, flag anything I promised to buy, then draft calendar events and a follow-up email.”
💸 Step 4: Do the math. If you’d do this a few times a week, a wearable might earn its keep. If not, you just skipped another gadget and another subscription.
Would you trust Amazon to remember your conversations for you? And should smart gadgets ship with better security before AI worms show up? See you next time!
