🚀 GPT-6 Astra Is Here. Is This AGI?
OpenAI released GPT-6 Astra, its most capable model yet. It is not calling Astra AGI, but the benchmark numbers invite the question.
Did GPT-6 Astra cross the AGI line?
📊 The Benchmark Broke
Astra scored 99.9% on ARC-AGI-3 and 97.6% on FrontierMath Tier 4. It also beat OpenAI’s human action-efficiency baseline on 96% of ARC-AGI-3 levels.

🖱️ It Leaves the Chatbox
Astra can browse, fill forms, install software and handle long professional workflows. On OSWorld 2.0, it scored 72.6% while finishing tasks about 47% faster than GPT-5.6 Sol.
🕵️ The Catch Is Visibility
OpenAI says Astra stays within assigned boundaries much better. Its written reasoning is also harder to monitor, leaving a smarter, safer and less readable system.
🤗 Nvidia Buys AI’s Town Square for $12.9 Billion
Nvidia agreed to buy Hugging Face for $12.9 billion. AI’s largest chipmaker now controls its largest open-model marketplace.
💰 Nvidia Wants More Than Chips
Hugging Face gives Nvidia distribution and a live view of which models are gaining traction. That matters as major customers build competing AI chips.
⚖️ Neutrality Is Now the Product
Jensen Huang says Hugging Face will remain open and work with rival hardware. The real test is whether developers still trust the platform once Nvidia controls its defaults, optimization and visibility.
Weekly Scoop 🍦
🧰 Weekly Challenge: Cut Your Agent’s Access
Challenge: AI can now operate real accounts. This week, shrink what one bad instruction can reach.
🔌 Step 1: Find the connections Check which AI tools can access your email, files, calendar, contacts or payments.
✂️ Step 2: Cut unused access Disconnect old tools and permissions unrelated to the AI’s job.
🛑 Step 3: Require approval Confirm every send, purchase, deletion, post or account change.
🧪 Step 4: Test the stop button Interrupt a harmless task halfway and confirm the agent stops.
Did OpenAI release AGI? And can Hugging Face stay neutral under Nvidia? See you next time!
