💥 Google's Gemini 3.6 Flash Comes for the Agent Market
Google released Gemini 3.6 Flash on Tuesday, a model built to run AI agents at scale for less money. It is faster, leaner, and priced below the version it replaces, but still nowhere near the cutting-edge release that many are waiting for.
Would you switch your AI agents to a cheaper model to cut costs?
⚙️ Cheaper Tokens, Fewer Steps
The new Flash burns 17% fewer output tokens than 3.5 Flash and takes fewer reasoning steps to finish multi-step jobs. At $1.50 in and $7.50 out per million tokens, it quietly undercuts its own predecessor.
🧬 The Bigger Roadmap
Alongside it, Google shipped a lightweight Flash-Lite and a security-tuned Flash Cyber (Mythos-level debugging), with a 3.5 Pro still in partner testing. Behind all of it, the team says its most ambitious training run yet, for Gemini 4, is already running.
A federal judge gave final approval Monday to Anthropic's $1.5 billion settlement with authors and publishers, the largest payout in U.S. copyright history.
💰 What the Checks Look Like
The deal pays roughly $3,000 per work across an estimated 500,000 books, split among the writers and publishers who hold the rights. Anthropic can finally start cutting those checks.
The judge had already ruled that training AI on copyrighted text counts as fair use, a huge win for the industry. What actually sank Anthropic was pirating the books it trained on, not the training itself.
Weekly Scoop 🍦
🎯 Weekly Challenge: Vibe-Code a Mini App With Gemini
Challenge: The new Flash is built to write and run code on command, so this week you get to make it build a small tool for you, no coding needed.
Here's what to do:
💡 Step 1: Open Gemini Head to gemini.google.com or the Gemini app and pick 3.6 Flash if you see it. No Gemini? ChatGPT or Claude can build the same thing, so use whatever is already open.
🗣️ Step 2: Describe the tool Ask it to "build me an interactive" whatever you want in plain words. Try a tip splitter, a workout timer, or a countdown to your next trip, and let it write and run the whole thing.
📸 Step 3: Tweak and share Tell it to change colors, add buttons, or drop in a dark mode until it feels right. Screenshot the finished tool and reply with the strangest thing you managed to build.
Cheaper AI or premium AI, which earns your trust? And if Gemini Flash could build anything, what would you make first? See you next time! 🚀
