OpenAI Unleashes a Beast in ChatGPT-4o

Welcome to this week’s edition of Jumble, your go-to source for the latest in AI. Today, we’re breaking down GPT-4o’s next-level image capabilities. Plus, we look at two AI legal battles and show you how to make your first custom AI assistant using Gemini Gems. Let’s jump in ⬇️

🖼️ ChatGPT-4o Can Generate Stunning Images

ChatGPT-4o now allows users to generate and edit images just by typing what they want. Need a high-res thumbnail? A funny meme? A fake photo-realistic science lab? Done. Users can also upload their own images and use natural conversation to brighten, tweak, or transform them.

The model can even handle up to 20 distinct objects in a single image and generate perfect text within images—a task most image AI models still struggle with. You can refine outputs in a back-and-forth chat, ensuring style consistency across multiple edits. You can even generate images from code snippets using HTML.

Check out these amazing styles 👇

📣 Why does this matter?
This isn’t just a novelty. GPT-4o’s image tools can do the work of an entry-level designer faster, cheaper, and with high creative control. Design workflows that used to take hours can now be handled in minutes through a simple prompt. Facebook ads, YouTube thumbnails, comic panels, book illustrations, concept art—you name it.

Some in the industry are sounding alarms: if AI can generate publish-ready visuals with accuracy, what happens to freelance and junior designers?

The feature is rolling out to Plus and Team users with API access coming soon. Access for free users has been temporarily halted due to OpenAI’s system overloading.

🛠️ New Capabilities
Images aren’t the only updates coming to ChatGPT. OpenAI has just announced additional upgrades for everyone:

⚖️ Anthropic Wins Early, OpenAI Faces a Tough Legal Road

Two major copyright lawsuits are putting generative AI’s future on trial. But while OpenAI faces a steep climb, Anthropic just scored a legal win.

A group of record labels (Universal, Concord and ABKCO) sued Anthropic for allegedly training its AI on copyrighted lyrics. But the judge just ruled the case won’t be fast-tracked and denied an early injunction, buying Anthropic time and signaling the court isn’t fully convinced yet.

On the other hand, OpenAI is being sued by The New York Times for using its copyrighted content in ChatGPT responses. The stakes are higher—and more public. Unlike Anthropic, OpenAI’s lawsuit is further along, with internal emails and evidence already being used to claim the company knowingly reused protected material.

This Week’s Scoop 🍦

💥 AI Challenge: Recreate a Moment as a Comic Strip

Challenge: Use ChatGPT-4o to generate a comic strip based on a scene from your favorite show, movie, or real life.

Example Prompt Idea💡: "Turn this scene from [insert show/movie] into a 3-panel comic. Keep it funny, expressive, and clean."

Want extra flair? Ask it to create a script first, then render images.

🎞️ Here’s our prompt for a Seinfeld comic strip:

Create a Seinfeld comic book strip with four scenes (captions included), depicting a popular episode.”

Share your strip with us by replying to this email. Funniest or most creative ones might get featured next week!
