🧠 Altman Says Your RAM Is Going to Waste

On a podcast with Stripe’s John Collison, Sam Altman said it’s “quite terrible” for everyone to keep the world’s limited memory in their own computers, where it sits unused about 95% of the time.

🙃 The Irony Isn’t Lost on Anyone

OpenAI’s own Stargate deals could claim up to 40% of the world’s memory chips, helping push some RAM kits to nearly 6x their price a year ago. Critics called it rich for Altman to complain about a shortage OpenAI helped create.

🔥 The Internet Isn’t Having It

Redditors vowed to hold on to their RAM at any cost, and Elon Musk mocked Altman on X, saying regular people deserve their memory too. Others read it as a push to rent your computer from OpenAI instead of owning it.

🧪 Anthropic Buys a Biotech Run by One Person

Anthropic just acquired Mithril Medicine, a one-person company that took a muscular dystrophy treatment from idea to promising mouse results in under 18 months.

🤖 Claude Ran the Back Office

Founder Cody Tranbarger used Claude to juggle contracts and experiments across 11 outside labs. In one test, it reviewed a 341-page lab report and suggested next steps in under eight minutes.

🔬 One Person, With Some Help

The “one person” still leaned on paid advisers and outside labs, and the results are only in mice so far. Human trials could start as soon as late 2028 if things hold up.

🏢 Weekly Challenge: Find Your One-Person Company

❝

Challenge: If one person and Claude can run a biotech, you could run something smaller. Solo founders made up 36% of new startups last year, so this week, use AI to figure out what yours could be.

Here's what to do:

🎤 Step 1: Get interviewed. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude: “Interview me one question at a time about my skills, what people ask me for help with, what I enjoy and how much time I have. Then summarize what I’m good at.”

💡 Step 2: Brainstorm ideas. Ask: “Based on that, suggest five businesses one person could run with AI’s help, and tell me which parts AI could handle and which would still need me.”

🔎 Step 3: Poke holes. Have it search the web for who already does each one and what they charge, then ask: “What would most likely make each idea fail?”

📝 Step 4: Pick one and sleep on it. Choose the idea that still excites you, ask for a one-page plan with the smallest way to test it, and revisit it in a week with fresh eyes.

Would you hand your PC’s memory over to the cloud if it made AI cheaper? And would you let Claude run your business’s back office? See you next time!
