🔐 Banks Found AI Agents Inside Customer Accounts
AI agents can now check your email, book travel and even manage your money. Big banks say they’ve spotted agents logging into customer accounts, called it “horrifying,” and started shutting them out.
Why do you think banks are really blocking AI agents?
🚧 The Big Banks Lock the Doors
JPMorgan’s Jamie Dimon doesn’t want “rogue agents” in its systems, and Citi and Bank of America are restricting outside agents too. Most are leaning toward read-only access, so agents can look but not move money.
💰 Follow the Money
The biggest banks hold $1.6 trillion in deposits earning nothing, which agents could sweep into accounts paying 3% or more. And most of these “rogue” agents were invited in by customers, not hackers.
So are the big banks actually trying to save you, or their bottom line?
🎻 Claude Duet Works While You Sleep
Anthropic just launched Claude Duet, an app where Claude runs on its own cloud computer, flags what needs you and finishes tasks while your phone is off.
📋 What It Actually Does
Duet sends a morning brief from your inbox and calendar, chases stalled threads and builds decks on request. It can even shop for you through Stripe’s Link and Shop Pay, but asks first.
🥊 How It Stacks Up
If you’re thinking, ‘this sounds familiar,’ you’re right. Both xAI and OpenAI have very similar offerings. What separates them is cost, availability, and the underlying models.
OpenAI’s Dots works inside ChatGPT, Slack and Teams but needs a $100 Pro plan, while
xAI’s Grok Bot learns a task by watching you once and puts a chief-of-staff bot over a whole team.
Duet starts at the $20 Pro plan, but it’s US only, waitlisted and shares limits with your regular Claude chats.

💼 Weekly Challenge: Let AI Trade Stocks, With Fake Money First
Challenge: Banks are wary of AI agents, but brokerages now let them trade for you. This week, see whether one can beat you, starting with fake money.
Here's what to do:
🧠 Step 1: Build a plan. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini or Claude: “Create a trading plan for $1,000 using five stocks I know, with clear rules for when to buy, sell and cut losses. Explain the risks.”
🎮 Step 2: Practice for free. Open a free practice account like Webull’s paperTrade or eToro’s virtual portfolio, which use fake money and real prices. Follow the plan for two weeks.
📊 Step 3: Grade the bot. Paste your trades back in and ask: “How did this do against just holding an S&P 500 index fund?” Recent tests found brokerage AI agents struggled to beat that.
💵 Step 4: Go real, carefully. If it held up, try Robinhood’s built-in AI agents or connect your own AI, like Claude or ChatGPT, to a separate account just for agent trades. Start small, keep trade approvals on, and note it’s US only.
Are banks blocking AI agents to protect you, or their profits? And would you hand Claude Duet the keys to your inbox? See you next time!
